FAQs
Q. What happened to the Ultra-Slim, ProGuard, and UltraGuard Cases?
A. We’ve Updated Our Case Series. Names like Ultra-Slim, ProGuard, and UltraGuard helped describe features, but over time, they also caused confusion. At PITAKA, we’ve always focused on advancing aramid fiber weaving to improve everyday carry. As our products evolved, we wanted our names to reflect the experience, not just the specs. That’s why we renamed our three series as Cairn, Edge, and Summa — inspired by a journey of climbing: * Cairn: firm and dependable, like stone markers that guide the way (Original name: Ultra-Slim Case) * Edge: slim, light, and sharp along the climb (Original name: ProGuard Case) * Summa: the peak, where protection and hand-feel come together (Original name: UltraGuard Case)
Q. How protective is the Edge series case?
The Edge series is designed to be extremely thin and light, providing a bare-metal-like experience. It offers sufficient protection against daily scratches and minor impacts. However, for stronger shocks or drops, the protection level may not match that of the Cairn or Summa series. If protection is your priority, we recommend choosing one of those alternatives.
Q. What is the difference between Cairn and Summa?
A. Cairncuses on ultimate drop protection: Uses hot-press molding, retaining the skin-friendly woven texture of aramid fiber for a grippy, fingerprint-resistant feel. Features an exclusive arched cushioning design for military-grade drop protection, ideal for users who prioritize safety. Summa is the flagship model, emphasizing both protection and refined details: It utilizes 3D thermoforming technology to seamlessly integrate aramid fiber and TPU, resulting in a smoother, more premium feel that is also easy to clean. Equipped with full-metal physical buttons that cover the camera control button for more responsive operation. Upgraded with self-developed Orca Resin for a lightweight yet ultra-durable build with double the impact resistance, reflecting PITAKA's pursuit of perfect balance between protection and aesthetics.
Q. Why does the "StarPeak" phone case have a textured pattern on the back?
A. We wanted to provide users with a more three-dimensional tactile experience with the "StarPeak" phone case. To achieve this, we incorporated a technique known as jacquard weaving into the Fusion Weaving process. This technique involves weaving patterns by interlocking warp and weft threads to create a textured and raised design. Jacquard weaving itself has the characteristic of being different on the front and back. The front features a woven pattern texture, while the back consists of interwoven threads. What appears to be a single-layer effect is actually the result of two layers of aramid fibers intertwining. Due to the presence of multiple layers of aramid fiber in certain areas, a textured pattern is formed when the phone case is molded (similar to how patterns in knitted sweaters may appear raised). This is a trace of our craftsmanship, reflecting the weaving process and adding to the handmade charm. The irregular pattern signifies a more complex weaving process, which requires additional manual craftsmanship. If you are concerned about the traces of handwork, think carefully before buying.
Is there a lanyard hole on the side of the case?
Yes, there is a lanyard hole on the side.
Is the case compatible with magnetic wireless charging?
A. All of our AirPods cases support wireless charging. The AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Pro cases come with a built-in magnetic module, making them compatible with MagSafe wireless charging. The AirPods 4 case does not support MagSafe, but it is still compatible with regular wireless charging (Qi/Qi2 standard).
What material is used inside the case? Will it scratch the earbuds?
The interior is made of plastic with a smooth, glossy finish that won’t scratch the earbuds.
